Everyday when I'm wide-eyed It's the digital spectrum Telling me to rise and shine With news and music But I don't like it, I don't like it When did life become so hybrid Live pause TV, flick plus one My VCR is much more fun Please don't tell me I don't know the score yet Central locking is the key To a mind at rest But there's no need for excess speed When you pass your test I don't like when engines stop and start at lights When you press your clutch Recalculate your sat nav says My A to Z goes all the way Please don't tell me I don't know the score yet When your deepest thoughts Are locked up in the plainest font, you say What you've got to say But your laptop crashes and there must be a better way Pen and paper here Reporting for duty You need never fear We'll never leave you lost for words The internet's all ats and dots You met this girl online she's hot She showed you pictures with no clothes on But they're all fake and a copy and paste job Grab your coat and get some son (sun) Cos' girls for real are much more fun Please don't tell me I don't know the score yet

Chris you've got to stop telling lies It's getting in her head You've got to wake up be wise And stop beating your chest It doesn't take much to smile And show an ounce of interest Wash and iron your clothes And compliment her new dress It's so nice when you come round at night Pretending that you give a damn When did you stop thinking 'what's my next trick to impress?' Now it's excuses to get away early Chris you don't want to make a house a home Tell her that you're happy living on your own It's easier pretending that it's what you want All you want's the full box set and a home cooked meal for one Just one, for one Chris it's alright being coy but then in front of your friends You talk about all the bad things you did at the weekend Happy sailing through life with people thinking you're fine Then crying into your pillow, time's just passing you by It's a choice that you chose when you froze you didn't choose it for you Making it all up as you go It's not right being quiet even if all the words come out wrong It's everybody's future Chris you don't want to make a house a home Tell her that you're happy living on your own It's easier pretending that it's what you want All you want's the full box set and a home cooked meal for one

about

Peculiar Disco Moves return with their enigmatic new single Lost For Words (Please Don’t Tell Me Please Don’t Say), a lyrical rant concerning the charm and character old technology and its often ersatz replacements, encapsulated in a ball of musical explosiveness.
The single will be supported by a show at the Newcastle Institute for Mining on Friday 9th May, as well as the launch of a video two weeks before the single is released. Lost For Words (Please Don’t Tell Me Please Don’t Say) will be available to download from the Peculiar Disco Moves’ Bandcamp page and to purchase from live shows as a limited edition CD.
Lost For Words (Please Don’t Tell Me Please Don’t Say) features many methods or forms of technology that are, or are becoming, obsolete in today’s society. The song compares A to Z Maps to Satellite Navigation, Sky-plus and Digital Boxes to VCR Players, and Internet relationships to face to face! We are living in times where the world seems to change at such an alarming rate, and a lot of the character and fun seems to be taken out of everyday life by faster, more ‘efficient’ ways of doing things.
