Joining Fee 03:37
Won't get a five-year deal Scanning products in a supermarket And though you've got the right to appeal No bonus appearances for hitting your targets I'm not working for free Three jags, a mansion and a trophy wife to up-keep They call it living the dream, so I'll hold out for more so I can race my horses If you see the locals struggling by Hard earned cash so you can live the high life When you finally figure funds are tied Maybe then you'll comprehend That its not a case of attack to defend An undisclosable income And the money for a joining fee The lesser known train alone A cold, damp flat, four years to get in the zone Consolidating a loan Praying for a miracle and waiting for the sponsors to phone Not like in a team, where You're home by 1 and then you're playing on your fruit machine I'm not overly keen to Defer my wages it's not about the man in the street If you see the locals standing by Hard earned cash so you can join the mile high When you finally figure funds are tied Maybe then you'll comprehend That its not a case of attack to defend An in disposable income And the money for a joining fee Sign on the dotted line (repeated)

Last time I saw him he was filling up a skip And his builder mates were ogling some pretty teenage chick He said 'You coming to the pub? We'll have a pint or two' I said 'I can't mate 'cos i'll be late the missus makes the rules' Why do you fly like angels in the sky? Why do you act as if it's all a big surprise? You've been laughed at before and it's never made you cry What happened to you Jimmy? Why d'you wanna fly like angels in the sky? Two years on and he's moved out of the town He's bought a plush apartment cost one hundred thousand pounds I'm finally going to the city chase the women drink the beer But he's not a fan of either all he wants to do is shed a tear Why do you fly like angels in the sky? Why do you act as if it's all a big surprise? You've been laughed at before and it's never made you cry What happened to you Jimmy? Why d'you wanna fly like angels in the sky? He said 'Hey there tutti frutti, you been hot and cold on me all night what's wrong?' He said 'Hey there you've got fabulous hair, I love your style it's sending me into a state of envy and despair' I said 'Now then buddy shall we go for a curry? Shall we get really lairy like it's 1999?' He said 'Hey hun I've got a loaded gun and in this room of Casanovas gonna find me the one to take me there' Quaint little village where the days are all the same His family they'll disown him when they hear of how he's changed A letter beats a phone call 'cos he has to change his voice He flocked the nest and he'll do best to hide his lifestyle choice Why do you fly like angels in the sky? Why do you act as if it's all a big surprise? You've been laughed at before and it's never made you cry What happened to you Jimmy? Why d'you wanna fly like angels in the sky?

about

Peculiar Disco Moves are back with new single Joining Fee, their take on the ridiculous sums of money involved in the top echelons of the football world!

The single will be supported by an intimate launch show at the Newcastle Institute for Mining on Friday 22nd November, as well as from HMV Newcastle with an exclusive in-store performance of the single. Joining Fee will be available to download from the Peculiar Disco Moves’ Bandcamp page and as a limited edition CD.

Joining Fee examines and compares the life of footballers and their agents with the everyday working man, highlighting the disparity between them, as well as other sportsman and athletes who struggle to finance their careers. It seems that the difficulty experienced in modern society is not reflected and in proportion with the astronomical amounts of money accumulated by a small, select group of individuals, who are only required to ‘sign on the dotted line’ in order to assure their extreme wealth and status.
